QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE|
Just How Does All of This Work?
96% OF OUR WORK IS WITH COLD CASES
I'll bet you've seen COLD CASE on TV. If you haven't, the stories are about murders that happened years ago that were never solved. A team goes to work researching the case again in an attempt to solve it. On TV, of course, and because they have only an hour to produce a show, the case gets solved and you always see a smile at the end from the deceased.
In our business, we work cold cases, but of a different kind. We do work with the deceased and money that they would have been entitled to if they had lived. Generally, we must do extensive genealogy on the family to see if we can find heirs who might be able to claim the money if they only knew where it was. Sometimes these heirs are 2-5 generations removed from the person we start with on our genealogy chart and they may not even know the name of their benefactor when we tell them.
Don't think we work regular unclaimed property that you could find yourself on-line. If you do find some there, be assured that we have found an additional, and much larger, source you do not know about and will not be able to find or claim on your own!
Also, unlike COLD CASE, it may take us several years of tedious research and expense to solve a case and to find ALL heirs. ALL heirs must be found and cooperate with us in order for us to file and prove their claims in a court of law. We wish we could solve all cases, too, but there's just so much time in a day!
THIS SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE--SO IT MUST BE A SCAM!
This is often a client's first reaction to our phone call or letter telling them we have found money for them. I am sure that I would also be skeptical if I got a phone call or letter out of the blue telling me someone had found money for me. They also tell me that no money is required from me up-front and that they only get paid if and when I do? They also tell me they will pay all filing and attorney fees? Wow! At this point, I'm thinking the deal sounds great but I still wonder where the catch is and how they intend to take my hard earned money. After all, since the poor economy, it seems that every scam artist and his brother and sister have come out of the wordwork!
After I check out the company, though, I find this really is a windfall I knew nothing about and would never have known about if Locators Unlimited had not contacted me. It really IS on the level! Yippee!
IS THIS REALLY WORTH MY TIME & TROUBLE?
We think so or we wouldn't have contacted you! We've been finding heirs & beneficiaries full-time since 1999 and have made lots of friends in the process. Best of all, the windfalls have often changed a client's life for the better. Our feeling is that whatever amount of money you get from this windfall you knew nothing about before we contacted you, is more than you have now!
NEXT--YOU'LL GET A LETTER & AGREEMENT
Obviously, after all the work we've done, we need to be assured that we're going to eventually get paid! We really enjoy this work but unfortunately we cannot afford to work for free. So, we ask that you sign a very simple Agreement with us. Please feel free to show it to your attorney, friend, pastor or someone else you trust.
Our Agreement basically says that if we aren't able to recover money for you, then the contract is null and void and you never owe us a cent! We are taking all the risk so you have absolutely nothing to lose. We also pay all attorney and filing fees. If we're successful in getting your funds and you get paid, then we get to collect our commission.
NOTE: There is only a small window of opportunity open to claim this money! Miss it and the boat will sail without you--never to return! We ask that you return the signed agreement right away but no more than a couple of weeks. We know how easy it is for things to get lost in the shuffle. We are sure you don't want to be responsible for the others missing the boat, either.
OKAY--FIRST LET'S CHECK OUT LOCATORS UNLIMITED
We've called or written you and now you have a letter and agreement from us that we'd like you to sign. This was sent through the mail. It's easy enough to call the Postal Inspector in your area to find out if our company is on their fraudulent list. (If we had been, we would have been shut down many years ago.)
We suggest in our letter that you should go to our website at www.wefindthem.com and look the site and information over. Best of all, we are members of the Better Business Bureau and if you click on the BBB logo on any page, you'll see our A+ rating and report by the BBB. You'll also find out that Locators Unlimited is a private investigation agency licensed by the Arizona DPS. There have never been any complaints.
AFTER YOUR AGREEMENT IS SIGNED & RETURNED
Generally (but not always) we have at least several heirs or beneficiaries who are entitled to claim funds in a case. We DO NOT give clients any information about the case--the amount of money, where it's coming from, how much we think they will get, etc. until ALL heirs have returned our signed Agreement. Please keep in mind that it's very important that we receive all signed Agreements back as soon as possible--preferably within a few days of receipt.
Once your Agreement has been returned, we may request additional information or records from you which we will need and have been unable to find or obtain because of privacy issues in some states.
Once we have everything we need to prove our case, we turn it over to our attorney and he takes it from there. We will let you know in our letter after your Agreement is signed and returned who the attorney will be representing all of us and you should be hearing from his office shortly thereafter. Once the case is settled, the attorney collects the funds, puts them in his trust account and waits for those funds to clear (usually within a few days). He then issues checks to all heirs, pays us our agreed upon commission and takes his fee from our commission. You will receive a complete accounting.
WHAT IF I DON'T WANT THIS MONEY FOR SOME REASON?
If for some reason you do not want this windfall, then it's important you sign a simple statement indicating that you do not wish to collect your share of this money and you want your share to be divided among the remaining heirs. Your statement will need to be notarized and you will be required to furnish positive identification. This will allow the other heirs to divide your share equally. If you don't do anything, you jeopardize the windfall for the rest as there are definite time deadlines. (see above)
WHAT IS YOUR COMMISSION RATE?
You'll see our commission rate in the agreement we send you. It may vary somewhat depending upon where the money is actually coming from. We pay all* expenses and attorney fees which are included in our commission, so you don't get any unpleasant surprises.
*Proving D & A is not a usual expense. In the past, we have paid in advance for the opening & closing of a grave, the lab work involved, the medical examiner, the D & A testing, etc necessary to prove relationship. However, we require these expenses be repaid to us at the time the attorney distributes the funds.
HOW LONG BEFORE WE GET OUR MONEY?
Once again, it depends upon which court hears the case. Recovering very large amounts of money in some states can often take several years even after we have done all our homework. We will keep in touch periodically to give you updates--preferably by e-mail. Also, it's very important that you keep us updated on new addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, death of an heir, etc.
